In
aid of the brave little boy Harley Slack, who was struck down
with meningitis B (Meningococcal septicaemia). As a result
of this both of Harley's arms and legs were amputated in order
to save his life.
He is now being cared for at the new Royal Manchester Children's
hospital where he is likely to be until the end of the year.
The Harley Slack Fund has been setup with the sole purpose of
raising funds to give him his life back. Harley is going to need
new Prosthetics roughly twice a year, due to his growing needs.
Brave Harley Slack has been given advice on how to cope with
his daily battle to walk on prosthetic legs – from the Blade
Runner. Harley has daily physiotherapy and exercises to stretch
his limbs and get used to his prosthetic arms and legs. But his
parents say he faces operations in the future before he can walk
on his own.
He is now eating well and has not needed tube feeding for the
last two months. Prosthetic's company Ossur who make Oscar's
running blades have promised to give Harley a pair when he wants
to start running.
This event has been organised to raise the funds necessary for
Harley to continue to receive the best possible treatment available.
